are you scared right now is school
already stressing you out do you still
feel like a kid and you have no idea
what's going on even though we're
expected to know from a young age what
we want to do for the rest of our lives
don't worry this video is here to save
you I never thought I would be making
another back to school video considering
I graduated so long ago I feel so old
compared to you guys but you guys were
asking for it and I'm like okay you know
what I am your big sister I need to help
you guys so hi hotties we're ready to Lo
in right locking in this is the time in
this special edition girl talk I'm going
to go in on study tips making friends
staying organized partying yeah I'm
going to go into that too let's
go for reference in high school I did a
few honors classes a few AP classes I
graduated with honors while also
juggling like extra curriculars I used
to be a competitive dancer and I was a
YouTuber at the time too and for college
I went to say go State University yes I
thought I lost my diploma I I can prove
it to you guys wow
I oh man I graduated with a major in
business marketing with an emphasis on
what was it integrated marketing
Communications literally when I was like
trying to figure out my major I was like
this is a long one let me just click
that I have no idea what I just did but
graduated Magna Kum lad as a first
generation student yeah I did that yeah
I'm proud enough of that I just wanted
to tell you you a background of
everything so you guys know that you
guys are taking advice from a real one
you know never lie to you guys and I
want this to be helpful so I asked you
guys to ask me questions on Instagram
and the first one is how to stay
organized and I feel like I am the best
person for this I was so organized in
school and it was just I don't know how
people can just keep things in their
brain I'm like how is your brain so big
how can you remember everything I'm
really jealous of that but for me I stay
organized with my physical planner and
also a digital planner but I'm going to
start off with the physical stuff I
prefer writing out all of my weekly and
daily tasks onto a planner like this you
can see that I have just so much stuff
this is even just postgrad so honestly I
think when you're like in school there's
also daily planners that has time blocks
that I loved using it was so so helpful
it makes everything look so much more
manageable and you can have like your
three top priority tasks for that day
and you really really lock in it also
promotes time blocking which I think is
really important when you have issues
procrastinating for monthly stuff I
write it all down like this and you can
see that it's just cute because I feel
like when you make things pretty and you
take time to really write that down it
cement in your brain and it makes you
want to look back on it I am a
stationary [ __ ] I love
markers
yes really fun pens like this like if I
had a like stressful exam coming up or I
had to do something that I didn't want
to do if I wrote it down in my planner
with this cute pen it makes me feel a
little bit better when you're writing
stuff in your planner don't be super
vague you want to break it down into
manageable like very concrete tasks so
instead of let's say you putting your
planner study study what okay so study
for math exam what do you have to do you
have to make flashcards you have to read
over the textbook again you have to
watch le like once you have like all of
those things down it makes it less
daunting and scary for digital planning
this is my biggest tip I think probably
the best tip I have of this entire video
so make sure you listen up I use notion
and on the first day of school you take
all of those syllabus all of everything
that you have and you write every single
assignment every single exam every
single quiz onto that notion color code
it and categorize it by class so you
know exactly how to track and manage
your time if you right there I know you
probably are if you're a procrastinator
deadlines are always creeping up on you
and it's just like so hard like oh my
God like what is happening I'm going to
freak out this is listen up in your
notion or in your planner make all the
due dates for assignments to 2 or 3 days
before it's actually due it kicks your
little booty and forces you to get [ __ ]
done it tricks your brain so when you
actually are completed with the
assignment you're like oh my gosh I have
2 days of free time that I don't have to
think about this class right now that's
so good and three if you are a
procrastinator and you know things kind
of slip through the cracks if you're
late by your own deadline it's not late
from your professor or your teachers
deadline you won't have any late like
deductions like 50% or something like
that so this really saved my life I
followed this method method all through
high school and all through college and
I never had a late assignment yeah when
you're studying and you also want to
look cute a good pair of glasses is a
must for me these are from morie Parker
and I feel like the clear frame is super
it girl studious girl energy you know
the shape of them is so perfect I chose
this pair with the virtual Tryon feature
it's so cool okay so online you can just
get a feel of what specific frames would
look like on your pretty face because
sometimes like things don't work out and
it's nice to know and try that on before
beforehand warie Parker only uses
premium materials and you can tell like
what the way that they look and I can
tell how they feel they have
prescription eyewear contacts and eye
exams and warie Parker glasses start at
$95 which include prescription lenses
with anti-reflective and scratch
resistant Coatings you can try the
virtual try on tool on their website at
war.com or their app and Shop all the
amazing styles to find your perfect pair
of eyeglasses or sunglasses add a pair
and say 15% off when you purchase two or
more prescription glasses or sunglasses
this offer is available in store and
online and thank you so much to Warby
Parker for sponsoring that portion of
the video love you how do I properly
take notes it's really confusing to me
every single subject that you take is
very specific in the way that you should
be writing your notes so like for
history for example it's very wordy tons
of dates a lot of obscure names versus
science where a visual representation of
what you're learning could be more
beneficial so when you're taking science
notes make sure to have a lot of
Graphics take screenshots from online
fine draw your own for history bold all
of the like dates and stuff and color
code each like name that you need to
remember I don't know I literally don't
remember what I did in school when
you're in class you know you're reading
that PowerPoint you write down as much
as you can and especially what your
professor or your teacher is saying but
they're probably saying like little
things in there that are going to be in
the exam and then after class look
through it all again and then organize
it this benefits in two ways one it's
more organized so then you can actually
study off of it two you're taking in the
info again you just learned it you're
going to go through your notes again and
as you're organizing it you're reading
everything again so it helps you retain
that information so much better how to
make an academic comeback my grades were
so bad last year I mean I failed a class
in high school so and look the world did
not implode on itself it's okay it's
okay what's in the past is in the past
there's nothing you do about that all
you can do is focus on your future and
work hard in the present for an exam or
a final read the study guide first I
know it sounds kind of stupid to not
look at your notes first but let me cook
okay I'm going to explain this honestly
if you don't have a study guide as
you're actually taking notes write
questions that you think that your
professor or your teacher will ask then
actually study and read things through
and as you're reading everything through
your brain is going to remember those
questions that you read from the study
guide or the questions that you asked
yourself so you're going to be able to
answer those questions so after you're
done studying go to the study guide
again and actually answer them this is
called active recall it's been proven
scientific speciically and also for me
uh it's helped me immensely on actually
learning the subject not just memorizing
it because I know that you know
memorizing things right before the exam
can help you get like a decent grade
whenever I would just memorize things
the second I took that test girl what
did I just learn what did I just take a
test on I have no idea it it just jumped
out and that would really bite me in the
butt whenever I would have a final cuz I
literally don't remember anything best
ways to study when you literally can't
focus I know we are so bad we cannot be
in silence there's always a damn video
playing while I'm like studying and
stuff um okay be for real if I'm that
video right now while you're studying
it's fine it's totally fine you can like
take a break and like finish watching
this video it's okay but afterwards put
on actual music you know Loi Music Cafe
jazz music it helps you romanticize your
time studying it's kind of like oh my
God like I'm just so cute and mysterious
right now studying in a cafe like in
Paris like like yeah but also when there
like normal songs or normal videos like
someone's talking they're actually
saying like Words very distracting when
you're trying to lock in and try to like
retain this information put your phone
on do not disturb okay you cannot look
at that I know you want to look at your
phone when we are so distracted it makes
studying hours longer we do not need
that like wouldn't you rather just have
it go by so fast you know lock in for 3
4 hours and then have time when you're
on your your phone you don't feel guilty
about it a really great studying
technique is pomodoro this is great
because it promotes deep work deep work
is when you are focused like everything
is just kind of flowing into your brain
you're not thinking about anything else
this is the only thing that matters to
do this you can set a timer there's
timers online and stuff where there's 25
minutes of deep work and then you get a
5 minute break so you can alternate that
and then increase the brakes a little
bit longer the longer that like you're
studying for so then you can have time
to recharge it's really important take
breaks and it actually helps you like
learn better how to be less stressed
about school and exams one this exam is
not your life two your life is not an
exam I know this is kind of crazy coming
from a business major uh yeah I remember
so vividly in high school and in college
where I would think that you know that
that was it like if I did not pass this
exam then I was not a good person I did
not deserve to be there I I failed my
family I disappointed my parents we have
to remember that there are times where
you lock in but there's also times where
you need to clock out a huge tip that I
have is to picture your exams as
something that is very like time
sensitive it's time bound let's say this
exam is 30 days away okay that means you
have a 30-day challenge thinking about
it this way helps you know that this
will end time will pass it's okay you
can make a widget on your phone I know
that it kind of sounds like it would be
stressful but honestly for me when I'm
thinking like oh my gosh my exam is like
5 days away that means I only have to
study for for this exam for 5 more days
and that's awesome something I would do
a lot okay so like in the last blip of
like you skimming all of your notes
right before the exam put on a song that
is like very memorable to you so like I
guess right now I can put on like super
shy by new jeans so as I'm skimming
through everything I'm listening to this
song and then as I'm walking to class I
can have my earbuds in listening to
super shy by new jeans and right before
the exam I'm thinking about the song
okay and for me it really helped me
remember exactly like what I was looking
at like in the notes I'll be thinking
about the song and I'm like and then I'm
like wait I remember that this is this
and wow okay in this exam I can do you
know this definitely the dumbest tip I
I've given in this video but it did help
me a lot how to make lazy outfits look
cute I want to dress nice but I'm always
too tired I totally get that oh my gosh
it was so like whenever I would just
roll out of bed and just go into class I
just did not feel good for me I always
had a personal uniform I have a whole
video on how to figure out your own
personal uniform but for me it was Baby
Tea and big pants so I would have like a
ton of that in my closet and I would
just alternate between them during my
school days felt really cute at school
and I didn't have to put in too much
effort I got so many questions about
making friends and I'm excited to answer
a few of them so someone said they're
starting University soon and they want
tips on how to make friends oh baby
everyone is so down to make friends
especially in freshman year so just go
for it because guess what everyone is
lonely everyone feels the exact same way
as you do because of this everyone is so
receptive into meeting new people and I
feel like this is such a beautiful space
and like opportunity to meet people in
different walks of life I feel like we
always feel that we're alone in our
thoughts but no like I trust me everyone
is on the same boat as you and you know
what if you encounter someone like a bad
apple and they're being mean to you and
rude good riddens they weeded themselves
out and you don't have to waste your
time with them I feel like it you don't
have to be discouraged if someone's not
super receptive to you because again
there's so many people there so like you
you will have time and place to find
your people hes I'm about to say
something so revolutionary right now you
guys have never heard this before join a
club I didn't join any clubs in high
school and I really regret that I did
join a couple clubs in college I started
actually pretty late I think it was like
the second semester of sophomore year so
I did feel a little bit lonely just
because I feel like everyone already had
their little click everyone already had
their group so I would recommend joining
as as early as possible but with that
being said I still made a lot of great
friends from that and I think that
because it is a club you guys already
have the shared interest so it's so easy
to make conversation with them leave
your damn room don't be scared to go to
the library sit on the grass you know
sit in the cafeteria by yourself it's
okay I would lock myself in my dorm and
FaceTime my ex and chat with my high
school friends and I I just wasn't
having the college experience cuz I was
isolating myself I wish there was a
magic formula making friends but on the
real you just got to get your ass up and
do it there's so many college
friendships that I wouldn't have had if
I didn't make that first conversation if
I didn't go up and tell them my gosh
like your hair is so cute or I really
like your outfit where's your purse from
and now we're like besties I feel left
out in the only friend group I have in
college I know it feels so awful because
it's just like bro what the heck what
the heck why are you leaving me out the
good thing about college is that it's
huge oh baby there are so many people
there and there are no downsides into
branching out and meeting other people
you could have different friend groups
for different things and I don't think
that there's anything wrong with that
you're growing up you're trying to find
your people and it's I feel like you
don't have to have like this solid
friend group for the entire time because
I feel like a really beautiful thing
about college and school in general is
meeting different people and expanding
your horizons how to get comfortable and
make friends with your roommate I was so
lucky that all of my roommates were
super chill like we just like got each
other like that it was so fun and I
think that a huge thing that helped us
get closer is that whenever we look at
our schedules if we had a class that was
like starting at around the same time we
would walk to class together and even
vice versa like walking back from class
into the dorm again there's a lot of
conversation to be had and a lot of
bonding being like Oh my gosh I just had
the worst test in my life and your girly
can be like oh my gosh me too like you
want to go get a sweet treat now and you
guys can go and get that and then go to
your dorm together you know I know a lot
of my baby hotties are still in high
school so I wanted to answer a few
questions from there even though so I
graduate oh my god when did I graduate 8
years ago how to not let School air
touch me oh my God girlo whenever I
would go to school I'll be like why do I
look like this someone also asked about
the emergency kit and like what to pack
to school so I'll I'll do this all right
now my last video was what's in my bag
but I'm going to show you the top four
things that you need to bring to school
number one are oil blotting sheets okay
we get super shiny under those
florescent lighting in high school like
no no no no bring this to refresh
yourself control the shine it also helps
like all your makeup like sometimes when
it peels up or gets like really crusty
pressing it into your face can honestly
help y you never know when mother nature
will bless you so make sure that you
bring Sanitary products I like to bring
pads liners and tampon even if it's not
your time of the month maybe someone
else it just happens so you can help
them out give them one you know be a
real one school is dirty so make sure
that you're bringing hand sanitizer and
then also mints because you want your
breast to smell
nice some other tips for school air is
to use Liquid blush cuz powder blush can
really fade a lot especially in the
light so when you're using liquid blush
it sticks to your face and opt for
setting spray instead of taking on a lot
of powder because Under The Lights it
really like emphasizes all of that
texture and of course makes your makeup
stay someone asked are APS worth it yes
100% 100 1 million per yes just because
when you pass that test you're going to
save so much money once you actually go
into to college because these college
courses girl they are not cheap and when
you had to take the actual College
course for it it can add a lot of time
from your graduation date because
honestly sometimes if you take enough AP
classes and pass all the exams you can
graduate a year or two early I somehow
passed my AP Cal exam and thank goodness
for that because obviously I saved a lot
of money but the college course for it
was way harder than it was for high
school it took that time that I would
have had to take for calculus to do my
other gen EDS and I could just Beed
through everything thing it was so nice
it's literally like speedruning college
I love it I got lots of college specific
questions so we're going to go into that
now choosing which college you're going
to and the major is obviously like a
huge part of this but I think it's
insane asking 17 18 year- olds hey what
do you want to do for the rest of your
life answer now girl do you think that
she knew what what was going on ever I
know that there is still like a little
bit of stigma about like Community
College but honestly ly I think that
this is a great route if not the best
route especially if you don't know what
you want to major in you're saving a lot
of money and also a lot of time because
you can kind of get a feel of what
college is all about in your community
college and just see like oh like I
think I like this course a lot like
maybe I can explore that further and
make that my major I would have gone to
a community college if I didn't get so
much financial aid for my University I
just don't want anyone watching this to
feel shame about going to Community
College okay I actually made a whole
video like really going deep down on
like my college experience everything
that I wish I knew but a huge takeaway
from that is please don't choose a
college for the prestige don't do it
because all your friends are going there
don't do it because your boyfriend
girlfriend partner is going there I
wanted to go to UCLA so bad I wanted to
go there because it was UCLA that's
literally it I was just like I guess
this is my dream but it really wasn't I
just would have been regretful and been
in a lot of student debt honestly also I
did not get accepted so yeah that dream
was not even going to become a reality
at that point High School is such a
small bubble of people and if you're
going to a college just to be with your
best friend um what happens if there's a
falling out I mean obviously we don't
want that to happen but you know let
let's think about the worst are you
going to regret your decision about
going to that college because the sole
reason of you going there in the first
place was for them putting all your eggs
in one basket has a butterfly effect for
your education and your happiness in
your future oh my God whenever I think
about this I'm just so embarrassed but
literally freshman year I was in a
long-distance relationship with my ex
and I was so close I was so close to
dropping out of San Diego State and
going to his
college for why because I was lonely and
I thought that I wouldn't make any
friends and I thought that my only
happiness was to be with him please do
that college have a major that I was
passionate about no was that College in
a town that I really really didn't like
like I did not Vibe yeah I'm so grateful
that I didn't end up doing doing that
because I ended up loving my college so
much and I met so many great people with
all of that being said I am not saying
that you can't ever transfer colleges if
you're doing it for yourself and you're
doing it for your own well-being if you
feel like that place is better suited
for you go for it my top three College
tips is one do not buy a textbook okay
you can rent them you can see them
digitally online like no no no no they
are hundreds of dollars for what what
are you going to do with that textbook
after do not buy them two do really well
in your first 2 years of College because
once you actually hit like the last two
years like senior and junior year um
that's when your GPA can really plummet
but if you have that really good
foundation from your gen egg classes it
can kind of level out I really recommend
taking summer and winter courses because
you can get through your units really
fast it's usually more affordable so you
can graduate early or have a really easy
schedule during your last few years and
number three value experience over
grades obviously we have to get like a
decent GPA right but I think that
there's so many when you're applying for
jobs and stuff there's so many people
that have such great grades but if you
don't have the experience or like actual
life skills to stand out and make
yourself like a good employee for that
person they're probably not going to
hire you you know do internships join
those clubs start a small business if
you're a business major and you want to
like have all of that experience in
there having a good relationship with
professors is really really great
because they can help you with your
resumés they can refer you to recruiters
they can actually help you land a job
are frats as dangerous as people say
they are their parties sound fun but I'm
definitely scared oh my gosh I was so
terrified too growing up my mom would
force me to watch those Lifetime movies
where all these girls would get
kidnapped at like parties and which just
like really really bad stuff I was
terrified I didn't go to my first fat
party until like a year and a half into
my college experience I obviously went
to San Diego State and that is a huge
party school so it I mean partying is
just huge in college in general it's
very important to stay safe and be aware
of your surrounding ings right like
don't take a drink from someone that you
don't know or you know like someone's
kind of like weird it's okay to pour it
out honestly what me and my friends did
is that we would just pregame before we
went to the party like we would just
just go at it and then by the time we
got there we were like fine we didn't
have to drink anything there listen to
your body if you know that you're at
your limit then you're at your limit
right if someone's trying to peer
pressure you then you know that they're
just not a good person because literally
what are they gaining from this like why
are you being weird I said I said I
don't want to drink anymore like back
off if you're drinking for the first
time in college because you know for
sure like obviously we are all waiting
until we're of age right right it's
important to know your own limits in a
really comfortable and safe space like
maybe in your dorm with people that you
trust so you know like okay like once I
hit like four shots like I'm done guys
like don't let me drink anymore I feel
like frat parties or just parties and
stuff are just not the place to
experiment with all of that like you
have to know all of that before you go
into those situations because people are
evil and weird and I it's just it's a
Scary World out there unfortunately like
can we just have fun like I just
literally want to dance and have fun
unfortunately as women we have to be
aware of that and um have fun partying
but please stay safe also there were
some weird ass frat parties where like
at the they would have like a bouncer or
something literally he's just like 19
years old he's just like another student
but he would like look you up and down
and see if you're good enough to go into
like the party like you're weird you're
literally weird I got rejected from like
probably three frat parties and I was
like you know what it was probably lame
anyways okay I didn't want to be there
how to bow in school with partying SLG
going out with friends yes girl like
okay you know I mean we are in college
and stuff to learn but I think
socializing is super huge like this is
the this is the time a huge thing for
this is just time management right you
got to stick to your academic schedule
and trust yourself okay so once you say
yes to someone oh let's go to party on
Friday or oh let's go like hang out and
get lunch together when you make those
plans you are making a promise to
yourself to complete your schoolwork and
make sure that you're you know all your
ducks are in a row making the fake
deadlines really really help me with
this do you have any tips for commuters
uh I personally wasn't but I had a lot
of friends that were and honestly I
didn't know that they were a commuter
until like months into our friendship
cuz they were always at school and I
think that was really good for them so I
would recommend staying at school as
long as possible really immerse yourself
into campus to build that community
make those friendships all that stuff
and separate your school life from your
home life all right that's the video I
hope that it was helpful to you if you
are going to college like let me know
what your like major is what college
you're going to if you're in high school
don't tell me what high school you're in
but what are you guys most excited for
for back to school I wish you guys the
best of luck with everything I know this
season is kind of stressful but also
really exciting because there's New
Beginnings I'm rooting for you guys you
guys can get a 4.0 you guys can do all
the things that you want to do because
you guys are awesome and so cool and so
smart and yeah I guess we'll see you
next time
bye drip drip cry face give you a kiss
kiss I'll be
okay drip drip say my name I need your
kiss kiss to be okay
